Editorial Style
My editorial style is exhaustively collaborative. I always tell my authors that I meet them half-way and I honor that with every developmental comment and line edit. At the end of the day, I want you to be proud of the product you put out there. If I make a comment that you don’t feel comfortable with, let’s talk about it and find a way to make things work.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Writing & Rhetoric, which allows me to review manuscripts through a different lens. One that explores both the deeply granular and the zoomed out perspective simultaneously. I like to think of editing as a word puzzle, approaching manuscripts from the perspective of how the words on the page fit together and how I can collaborate with you—the writer— to build out the bigger story or argument you want to tell in the most cohesive way.
Developmental Editing
You’ve written your manuscript and edited it multiple times. You’re now ready for an editor to go through your manuscript and offer an in- depth analysis before publication or submission to agents and publishers. A developmental edit will include:
An editorial letter detailing your strengths and weaknesses, areas that need to be clarified, refined, or elaborated upon, plot holes or missing details
A marked up manuscript with in- line comments and notes
1-hour long Zoom calls to discuss notes and feedback
One follow up round of edits to ensure issues have been addressed and an additional follow-up call if needed
