I’m passionate about publishing marginalized voices in every sense of the word, whether that’s people of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, or those writing in a space not common for someone of their identity. I am drawn to narrative-driven and expert-driven books in the areas of current affairs, cultural criticism, social justice, social science, investigative journalism, and memoir that ask questions about the institutions we have in place and challenge the ways we navigate the world around us. I’m deeply interested in anything that touches on race, gender, and identity—not just in the traditional sense of how these elements impact us as individuals but also how they shape our relationships with the world while asking questions like “what does it mean to be a daughter, mother, sister, or friend, etc.” I also find myself often thinking about the legacy of colonialism and imperialism —how it impacted the values we hold and the ways we move about the world.
As someone who grew up watching historical Chinese dramas with my father, I’m also a history nerd at heart. This translates into my publishing interests via a desire to tell stories that haven’t been told before, the type of history books that explore the roots of a traditionally marginalized groups and share deeper insights on what we didn’t learn in our high school and college history courses.
I also work on big idea books by thought leaders in business and personal success titles that share insightful and practical wisdom on how to improve our day-to-day at work and beyond.
